Jazz will stop at nothing to save her brother. Their foster mother, Carol, has always been fanatical, but with Jazz grown up and out of the house, Carol takes a dangerous turn that threatens thirteen-year-old Joaquin’s life. Over and over, child services fails to intervene, and Joaquin is running out of time. Then Jazz gets a blocked call from someone offering a solution.

There are others like her—people the law has failed. They’ve formed an underground network of “helpers,” each agreeing to eliminate the abuser of another. They’re taking back their power and leaving a trail of bodies throughout Los Angeles—dubbed the Blackbird Killings. If Jazz joins them, they’ll take care of Carol for good. All she has to do is kill a stranger. (amazon.com)

A compelling and jaw-dropping mystery thriller – I’m having a hard time putting it down.

This YA Fantasy will also appeal to adults. It’s a satirical look at the nature of sin and redemption. A very good read!

  1. The Kill Club sounds great! I am so happy I came across your blog. I thought I would recommend a psychological thriller I just read (I am going out on a limb here but I really think you will enjoy it!) It’s called “Ain’t No Messiah” by Mark Tullius(https://www.marktullius.com). The main character, Joshua, has grown up being told that he is the second coming of Jesus Christ. Having said that, he clearly lives with an extremely messed up and abusive family, as well as a cult-like over-the-top church. Joshua is desperately trying to figure out who he really is and escape from his psychologically scarring/damaging situation. This book is dark, twisted, unique and my book club loved it. I am a huge fan of Chuck Palahniuk and Stephen King and this author definitely has a similar disturbing point of view. I really hope you will check it out.
