Review will be posted on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 which is the date it will be available in stores and online

Set in 2023, the number one threat to our nation’s security is in cyberspace. The new US president wants to tackle the urgent problem head-on and launches a top secret line of defense: Net Force. But before the organization can be announced, the country is hit by an unprecedented, two-pronged terror attack.

My initial thoughts: It’s big…over 700 pages. Admittedly, I accepted the publishers request that I read and review this novel BEFORE I checked how many pages it is. But it is extremely well-written (easy flow, natural dialogue, fast pace, intriguing characters) and plays on people’s worst fears concerning the internet – so very EXCITING! I should finish it today or tomorrow and the ending will have to be a huge disappointment- and I don’t see that happening – for this to be anything but a 5-star read.

The review will be posted next week, 11/12/2019 and the book is currently available in stores and online. It came out last month.

Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) adores Christmas. It’s always the same – Mum and Dad hosting, carols playing, Mum pretending she made the Christmas pudding, and the next-door neighbours coming round for sherry in their terrible festive jumpers. And now it’s even easier with online bargain-shopping sites – if you spend enough you even get free delivery. But this year looks set to be different. Unable to resist the draw of craft beer and smashed avocado, Becky’s parents are moving to ultra-trendy Shoreditch and have asked Becky if she’ll host Christmas this year. What could possibly go wrong? With sister Jess demanding a vegan turkey, husband Luke determined that he just wants aftershave again, and little Minnie insisting on a very specific picnic hamper – surely Becky can manage all this, as well as the surprise appearance of an old boyfriend and his pushy new girlfriend, whose motives are far from clear . . . Will chaos ensue, or will Becky manage to bring comfort and joy to Christmas?

My thoughts: If you are looking for a book to put you in the Christmas mood – this is the book for you. You will laugh out loud, as Becky does things we are all guilty of and sympathize with her as things get more and more complicated. This is not mystery or fantasy, but Sophie Kinsella is one of the few authors I make an exception for. Definitely a five star read.

What if dreams are more real than waking life? Life is already complicated enough for Awa Bryant when she starts having weird dreams – waking dreams – and strange coincidences start appearing in her real life. She meets dreamcharmer, Veila, a quirky glowing creature who helps to guide Awa through the mysterious Dreamrealm. At first the Dreamrealm is a glorious escape from Awa’s daily struggles but something is not right… Soon Awa discovers she has a bigger quest, and everything she cares about is at stake. Will she be brave enough to face her fears and save her friends?

This is fantasy has a target audience of MA to YA age range, so I bit younger than I normally read but I am looking forward to the change from normal.
